The Cleaning Closet is a once-a-month free cleaning and hygiene product distribution. We are open the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 5:00-6:00 PM throughout the year at the church building. Those needing assistance must apply each month (a digital application is provided below). Applications must be submitted by 4:30 PM on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Supplies may be limited, so we will distribute in the order of application submission (first come, first serve).
Who and Why Do We Serve? The Cleaning Closet serves anyone in the Mt. Vernon and surrounding areas that may need some extra provision. We developed out of the overwhelming need to bridge the gap between services. Right now food stamps, Medicaid, Medicare, etc do not cover any sort of cleaning or hygiene supplies. Moms can feed their kids but can’t wash their clothes. Dads can get them clothing at various places but might not have soap or shampoo to bathe them. The elderly may have meals on wheels but cannot get dish-washing cleaner to wash their dishes. You get the idea. The Cleaning Closet aims to serve these gaps in the system. Additionally we can provide cleaning and hygiene supplies on an as needed basis for foster families and those families who have been affected by catastrophic situations (such as a house fire, flooding, or weather-related disasters.)
We have Bible classes and programs for all ages starting at 6:00 PM. Childcare is available for infants to 3 yrs old.
