CBC's Coronavirus (Covid-19) Plan of Action

On Friday, March 13, 2020, Governor Mike Parson declared a State of Emergency in Missouri due to the continuing spread of the Coronavirus. By no means are we panicking or wanting to cause any panic among our church body. However, because we want to work to keep our church family and our community as safe as possible, we feel it necessary to have and communicate to you a plan of action.

Wednesday evenings have been cancelled until further notice. On Sunday mornings, we will be having Drive-In Church. We will be having live worship and preaching, but all will participate from the safety of their vehicles. We invite all to come, park, and worship with your family in your vehicle. The service audio will be broadcast on an FM radio station which you can tune your radio to.

Again, we want to care for our church family in all respects, including the physical well-being of our community. To that end, we are asking all of our Covenant family to take precautions to keep yourself and others safe.

PRECAUTIONS WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND:

  1. Use Germ-X (with at least 60% alcohol) or thoroughly wash your hands 12-15 times per day (every hour for at least 20 seconds per wash).
  2. Carry Germ-X/sanitizing wipes with you. Use them on toilets, door handles, shopping carts, utensils, cell phones, everything you touch at a restaurant, etc.
  3. Avoid touching your face; specifically the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. (The virus enters those areas.)
  4. Avoid touching others unless absolutely necessary. Words and waving can communicate as effectively.
  5. If you think you may be sick or believe you have been exposed, please stay home. Err on the side of caution. Our sermons are recorded and then provided online for downloading or streaming.
  6. If you are ill and must be around other people, please wear a mask.

WE WILL INSTITUTE THE FOLLOWING MEASURES AT CBC:

When services resume inside our facility:
  1. We will follow federal, state, and local government declarations. We will carefully consider any government recommendations, as well as recommendations of area churches/associations. Your safety is our concern.
  2. We will sanitize highly touched surfaces, such as doors, handles, chairs, tables, water fountains, handrails, and sinks, before and after every service.
  3. We will suspend all hugging, holding hands, or touching one another in church. Use your words to share your love.
  4. To avoid possible exposure, during services please leave at least one chair between you and the person next to you, unless you are family members.
  5. The use of facilities will be limited to Covenant-sponsored services/events. No non-member organizations/groups will be allowed to use the facilities until leadership deems it prudent.
  6. Until further notice, we will suspend passing the plate for our Sunday morning offering and instead provide an offering box in the foyer. You can also give online at covenantbaptistmv.org/give.
We understand that some may not feel comfortable in groups until the threat is over. If you choose not to attend services because of illness or concern, you will be missed, but we understand. If you are a regular giver, please continue to give by either making up for what you missed when you return or by giving online. Your continued generosity is a vital resource that enables us to continue our Gospel-mission on a weekly basis.

The uncertainty of this outbreak is creating anxiety in our workplaces, schools, and day-to-day activities, yet we are not the fearful but the faithful. We remain certain of God's steadfast presence and faithful attention to all that is happening. Please join us in praying for those who are affected by this illness, as well as their caregivers and those who are working around the clock to minimize the impact of this virus.

In Psalm 46, we are reminded that it is God who is our refuge and strength, and our ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, let us not fear, but with confidence use this opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus through our prayers and our care for others.

In Christ,
Your Covenant Elders
