Our main task as leaders is to build authentic relationships with our students while teaching them the word of God. This includes hanging out with them before and after worship service, joining in our games if desired, and being available for conversation.There is no stress or pressure to do anything other than be yourself, honest and real.
SERVING WITH Student Ministry
DETAILS Our adult leaders may be asked to lead small group discussions while being prepared to engage in both difficult and fun conversations with our students. However, not all of our leaders will be leading small groups and can help in other ways. This may be food preparation, leading games, clean up, or simply hanging out and having a good time. We meet on Wednesday nights from 6pm-8pm. Some leaders and students will need to leave at 7:30 and that is allowed as long as this is communicated to our Student Paster. Leaders are expected to help shepherd and guide our students when they are out of line. You will have authority to correct with grace and truth. We are also expected to attend and assist in our events when possible.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS The number one qualification is having a willing heart to serve. Our leaders will not be new Christians, but those who have had time to mature in their faith. Communication is essential, and it will be very helpful to let our Student Pastor know if you cannot be present, will be later than 30 minutes, or need to leave early. This is especially important for our small group leaders. While serving as a leader in our youth group you will need to be able to have fun and be prepared to laugh and enjoy what you are doing.
